Based on the actual barefoot and beautiful girl named “Angel, known in the Village as “Miss Beatnik,” Julia brings to life the wildly misunderstood morality, intelligence, and political and cultural views of non-artist “typical” Beatniks in the 1950s and early 60s. Through her respectful, non-romantic relationship with Gaslight Founder John Mitchell, she impacts his evolution from con-man to patron-of-the-arts. In a twist where fiction meets real life, Julia, a Wilhelmina model, actress and film producer, is the real John Mitchell’s grand-daughter.
